VIOLINIST/VIOLIST/QUARTET CONTRACTOR Glori Vela received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Music Performance and a Master's Degree in Music Performance from Arizona State University. Ms. Vela has played numerously with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Irving Symphony, East Texas Symphony, and Wichita Falls Symphony. In 2001, Ms. Vela toured with operatic singer Andrea Bocelli along the East Coast of the United States playing in Nashville, Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston and served as principal in orchestras in Atlantic City and Worchester, Massachusetts. Ms. Vela has attended the Killington Music Festival in Vermont, the Texas Music Festival in Houston, the XXV International Viola Congress in Austin, the XXVII International Viola Congress in Guelph, Canada, and the Heifetz International Music Festival in Annapolis, Maryland and Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. She has played with the viola ensemble Bratsche con Brio, touring such places as Monterrey, Mexico and Guelph, Canada, and throughout the state of Texas. Ms. Vela has performed in masterclasses for Paul Colleti, Jeffrey Irvine and Vicki Chiang. Her teachers include Nancy Buck, Catherine Forbes, James Dunham, and John Graham. She served as a founding member of the Katherine K. Herberger Graduate String Quartet from fall 2002 to the spring of 2004 in Tempe, Arizona. Ms. Vela is currently in her fourth year as an instructor at Tarrant County College, Northeast Campus and her fifth year as third chair violist of the Las Colinas Symphony, Arlington Symphony, and Garland Symphony. She has a cat named Tobi and a dog named Chairman Kaga.
VIOLIST Marcela Chavarria began viola studies at the University of Costa Rica where she later obtained her Bachelor's Degree in viola performance under the tutelage of Eddie Mora. In 2002, Ms. Chavarria continued her viola and chamber music studies with professor Gellya Dubrova at the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Mexico. In 2006, Ms. Chavarria began viola master studies with professor Michael Kugel at the Hogeschool Zuyd Conservatorium in Holland, graduating in June 2007. She recently moved to Texas. Marcela has particapated in chamber music recitals, symphonic concerts and music festivals in France, Switzerland, Spain, USA, Mexico, and Costa Rica. She was a winner of the "Young Soloist Competition" of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, performing Hindemith's Viola Concerto. She has been a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, Chamber Orchestra of the University of Michoacan, Co-principal of the Michoacan Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Mineria in Mexico City, and many others.
